Why Bluegrass Has Become So Popular In The US.

The style of music known as Bluegrass is deeply rooted in tradition, and is a co-mingling of a variety of different genres, not only in the United States, but from other nations as well. Bluegrass is a mix of country, and has many aspects of folklore fairy tales which are popular in the US (and other countries around the world.) There is also a genre in Brasil, called Forro, which is influential in the Bluegrass tradition here in the US.

Bluegrass has been part of the music tradition here in the United States for well over a century, and it was very popular early on in its history, then tended to die down in popularity. Recently, however, in the past couple of decades or so, many country artists (and artists from some other genres of music as well), have begun to tie thier music and lyrics to the Bluegrass style which was so popular early on in its history.

Today artists, such as Dierks Bentley and Brad Paisley (in the country industry especially), are tying the lyrics to the music of today, back into an old Bluegrass style which was very popular in the US in the past. These artists are using instruments such as harmonicas and banjos, which were used in Bluegrass, to tie thier current style of music in the country world, to the style which is known as Bluegrass.

Although it really hasn’t made a “comeback,” with such popular artists begininng to tie it back into thier songs, and trying to bring the Bluegrass style back into the mix, it has begun a small resurgency here in the US. Whether it will continue to grow in popularity will really depend on the music industry, and the artists which will decide to try to use a Bluegrass style in the future.
